MH. Can you believe that decoration is a profession for which you only need a certain aesthetic taste and a little imagination?
AG. A decorator must have technical knowledge, established design bases and a great aesthetic sense. Basic aspects such as color, manipulation of space, lighting, different decorative styles and the technical characteristics of materials help us as decorators to adapt the space to the client's needs in an interior design project.
MH. After 20 years of experience in the sector, what has been your career as a professional?
AG. My projects focus almost entirely on home decoration. I travel the entire world buying furniture for the VICAL brand and I use the pieces to make my projects more exclusive. Among the jobs that I remember fondly, mentioning when I decorated a house in Miami for one of the Victoria Secret marketing directors. It was an apartment on the 31st floor of an urbanization managed as a hotel, with a private port and all kinds of luxuries.
MH. As an expert interior designer, tell us how you would approach the project of decorating a Modular Home design home.
AG. Currently, modular houses have been perfected until they become authentic designer homes. They have nothing to envy of traditional concrete ones. They have the advantage of customization, a modern aesthetic and large open spaces. And I love that. There are infinite possibilities
For a house with a modular design, I usually opt for pieces that give a lot of freshness and warmth, and that add light to the room. You have to take advantage of the large windows, which fill the entire space with light. I recommend avoiding dark pieces and opting for furniture with white plates and natural woods. Warm furniture makes the house look larger and allows more possibilities in terms of the style of accessories.
But each project is different, so the most important thing is to know the client, know their personality and tastes. It is important that the entire interior of a house reflects the personality of those who live there.
MH. Mention three perfect styles for a Modular Home design home.
AG. The Art Deco style with striking and sophisticated pieces, geometric shapes, chrome, enamel, gold tones and velvet. On the other hand, the industrial style with wood and metal in the furniture, exposed structures, minimalist decoration and bare walls. And another different style, but with a lot of charm, is the Mediterranean, with a lot of noble materials such as wood, linen or rattan, and a lot of light colors. The important thing is that the style of the interior of the house is in line with the client's tastes.
MH. What current trends do you use in your interior design projects?
As for current trends, I really like to mix velvets with natural woods and plates with iron. And a trend that is going to sweep the world is the smoked gold color, duller than the classic gold and more similar to brown tones. This tone is going to replace the gold trend.
