When in construction or architecture we talk about the structure of a house we are referring to the elements that support it. We could agree that it is the resistant framework that, while fixing the house to the ground, supports its own weight. The prefabricated concrete houses from Modular Home It even uses the enclosures of the house as a self-supporting structure. The constructive strength It is one of our assets. Thanks to them we are leaders in the prefabricated houses for sale.

The elements that make up a house

Briefly, the parts or elements that make up a house range from the already mentioned structure. Which is generally divided into foundation and supporting structure. Then we would have the exterior enclosures and covers. With these two elements the house would be shaped. Followed by interior partitions, usually using partitions that divide spaces by use. And finally coatings and installations. These are the elements that roughly make up a house. Among them there can be a great variety due to the different materials that we can use.

The Structure of a house

Today we talk about the structure of a house, as we have already pointed out, it is what supports the building. It can be made of different materials. From adobe to wood, including brick. Steel or reinforced concrete, these materials used together or individually, can make up the structure of a house. In general, buildings have two different structural elements. We are referring to the foundation and the supporting structure.

The foundation

It is the part of the structure of a house that serves as a link with the land on which it sits. At the same time it is the base on which the entire house will rest. In this way, the foundation must, on the one hand, distribute the load itself and the use of the house to the land. And at the same time "remedy" any possible lack of resistance that the terrain may have due to its particular composition. Geotechnical studies will reveal the nature of the terrain. With your data we will know which foundation option is best for us.

Isolated footings or strip footings can be used to form the foundation. We may need a foundation slab that covers the entire surface of the house. And if necessary, we may need piloting to ensure it. In cases where the house has underground rooms, the foundation will be accompanied by the necessary retaining walls. These can be considered as part of the supporting structure or the foundation itself.

The supporting structure

Already above the ground and on the chosen foundation, the supporting structure rises. Usually a set of vertical and horizontal elements. The first can be specific what we call pillars. Or linear, what is known as load-bearing walls. The horizontal elements rest and are supported on them. These make up the floors and ceilings of our house. They absorb loads and transmit them to the vertical elements.

We usually call these horizontal elements forged, and due to their own configuration they are divided into unidirectional or bidirectional. They require beams or joists in the first case, or slabs in the second.

Structure of a prefabricated house

In the case of our prefabricated concrete houses, the structure is formed as a whole. Our precast elements are designed to interlock. At the same time they make up the structure and envelope of our buildings. Pieces that make up our exterior enclosures interlock with the horizontal elements, slabs, that make up floors and ceilings. Reinforced concrete gives us many possibilities. Highlighting the structural safety, the speed of execution, and the adaptability of our construction system.
