The iconic Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid Hotel, a benchmark of architecture and design in the capital, opens its doors to the 2nd edition of the Modular Awards, an event that continues to grow and consolidate within the sector.
On April 23, this unique location will once again host an evening where talent, inspiration, vision and recognition come together.
The setting: an architectural landmark in Madrid
The choice of the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Hotel is no coincidence. Opened in 1910, This iconic building is part of the architectural heritage of the capital And it has been, for more than a century, and is, a symbol of elegance and excellence.
Its most recent renovation, completed in 2021, has managed to preserve its historical essence while adapting it to a new stage, in a project directed by the architect Rafael de La Hoz together with the French designers Gilles & Boissier, responsible for the interior design.
A result that exemplifies how tradition and contemporary life can coexist in harmony, in an environment that, due to its identity and history, fits naturally with the character of the Modular Awards.
Modular Awards 2025: the origin of a new space for the architecture sector
Almost a year ago, the First Edition of the Modular Awards, shaping an initiative born from a concern within the sector: the need to create a space where different perspectives, trajectories and ways of understanding architecture could come together.
That first meeting marked the beginning of a meeting point with its own identity, capable of generating a real impact within the sector.
A proposal that opted for something different: not only recognize, but also bring togetherA moment to pause, exchange views, and give visibility to works that don't always take center stage.
Remembering that first edition also means putting the focus back on those who gave meaning to that night: its award winners.
Professionals and studios who, from different perspectives and backgrounds, share a common understanding of architecture and design. Their names not only made it onto the winners' list, but also became part of a moment that is already becoming part of the industry's collective memory.
Urban Souls: concrete portraits that transcend
One of the most special moments of the last edition was the presentation of “Urban Souls: Portraits on Concrete 2025”, a proposal that goes beyond the exhibition to be situated in a terrain where architecture, art and matter converse.
Far from understanding concrete solely as a construction material, the collection reclaims it as a symbol: of time, of permanence, and of the very essence of architecture.
The series portrays some of the most influential architects on the current scene — such as Rafael de La-Hoz, Julio Touza, Ramón Esteve or Fuensanta Nieto — holding our concrete in an image that is as simple as it is powerful.
A gesture that functions as a metaphor: the direct link between those who design and the material with which it is built, between the idea and its materialization.
In this second edition, we will discover the expansion of the Urban Souls saga with new professionals, which will coexist in an exhibition that transcends photography to become a tribute to the sector: to its ideas, its processes and to those who, from different perspectives, shape contemporary architecture.
A new edition, continuing to build
Celebrating a second edition is, above all, a reason to thank everyone who makes this event possible: those who support it, those who trust in it, those who participate, and those who, in one way or another, are part of this very special night.
At Modular Home, we prepare each edition with enthusiasm and a real commitment to continue building a space that adds value to the sector. We'll keep you posted…
