5 types of flooring for your home Modular Home

Table of Contents

The floor of a home is an essential and determining element to give character and personality to a house. Modular Home recommends before choose a type of floor, having already decided on the decoration style and color palette, in addition to other factors such as the frequency of traffic, type of inhabitants, children or adults who are not very concerned about maintenance, the lighting of the home and the type of heating chosen.

Ceramic Stoneware Floor

It is one of the most popular options: it is a type of floor that is easy to clean and resistant to temperature changes. At Modular Home we recommend ceramic stoneware flooring, as it is a perfect ally of aerothermal, which is the heating system installed in 85% of our Projects. Aerothermal energy transmits heat and cold perfectly through the underfloor heating – refreshing, to have the house with perfect air conditioning.

En our sample of ceramic floors There are different dimensions and effects with imitation cement, stone, marble and wood finishes.

Imitation wood flooring

Porcelain Floor

Like Ceramic Stoneware, it is highly recommended for the use of underfloor heating – cooling with aerothermal energy. It basically differs in its composition and the textures of imitations of natural materials are more real.

Porcelain flooring is fired at a higher temperature, which gives it more hardness and, therefore, greater immunity to knocks and scratches, maintaining its appearance much longer than conventional ceramic floors.

Porcelain floors have a wide variety of finishes. In stone, marble or granite and imitations of wood, where the knots are shown in the pieces in different positions and reliefs, so that they combine correctly and at the time of placing it it does not seem like a repetition of pieces, but rather it really resembles the natural wood. This effect is multiplied when you have an imitation wood floor heated by underfloor heating in winter. It is quite a discovery to feel comfort with zero maintenance.

Polished Concrete Floor

Polished concrete floors are the most daring. If you like to see the flesh of the material and you like the discontinuities of concrete, this is your perfect choice. There has always been talk about the coldness of concrete, but we love it. It is our favorite material because it brings extraordinary authenticity to the house. If you want more warmth, you can always accompany the environments with rugs and large plants that turn your home into a very cozy space.

Solid Wood Floor

Being a natural material, it is a unique floor. Each piece has its own hallmark, so no two will be exactly the same. This feature provides added value to any space.

This type of floor has great insulation. As it is more insulating, we do not recommend it as an option to combine with an aerothermal system. The reason is that it has lower thermal transmittance, especially for cooling soil. For underfloor heating, heat will work perfectly, but performance for cooling decreases, something that must be considered to achieve a completely efficient installation.

We must say in its favor that it has great durability and minimal maintenance, since it can be repaired with a knife every a certain number of years to keep it as good as the first day. If you like pure materials, choose a solid wooden floor from our sample book.

AC-5 Laminate Flooring

This type of floor is in high demand for its great resistance, ease of assembly and for having a cheaper price than natural wood. Being made up of several layers of different materials, it resists momentary humidity, scratches and stains very well. The AC5 hardness means that this floor is recommended for high traffic surfaces such as shopping centres. You will never have in your home the traffic of a store where thousands of people pass by daily, therefore you will have a perfect floor for a long number of years.

The different laminated models that we find on the market, especially if they are of quality, have very real structures similar to wood, with extra matte finishes, which very realistically imitate the look and feel of natural wood.
